On December 6, 2025, police in Balik Pulau arrested a 60-year-old man during a raid on several premises along Jalan Air Putih, where 30 bitcoin mining machines were discovered. The operation was found to be utilizing illegal electrical connections, prompting a joint inspection by the police and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) due to reports of unusually high electricity usage in the area. The TNB assessment estimated a loss of RM22,744 attributed to the electricity theft. The case is currently under investigation, with authorities looking into potential violations of the Electricity Supply Act 1990 and the Penal Code. Police have encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities related to electricity theft to enhance community safety.
