The incident took place at Schoelcher Square, situated opposite the town hall and church, where preparations for the event were underway.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation by local authorities. Witnesses have suggested that the driver may have experienced a medical emergency while operating the vehicle, although this theory has not been officially verified. The driver reportedly remained at the scene following the incident.
