On Friday morning, federal agents from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) executed search warrants at a Taco Giro restaurant located near Grande Avenue and St. Mary's Road in Tucson, Arizona. This operation is part of a larger initiative involving 16 search warrants related to immigration and tax violations across Southern Arizona. As a result of the raids, multiple individuals were taken into custody.

In response to the law enforcement activity, a group of protesters gathered to express their concerns. Protesters voiced their support for the affected community members, with one individual stating, "We support our neighbors and we will stand with our neighbors." Another protester criticized the approach taken by federal authorities, remarking, "This is not the way to run this country."

During the protests, demonstrators reportedly moved onto Grande Avenue, and some engaged in confrontational behavior, including kicking unmarked vehicles associated with ICE or HSI. In an effort to disperse the crowd, federal agents deployed tear gas canisters, prompting the arrival of Tucson Police.

In addition to the raid at the Taco Giro on Grande Avenue, ICE and HSI were also reported to be present at another Taco Giro location near Valencia and Cardinal, as well as in Sierra Vista on the same day. ICE confirmed the execution of the search warrants but did not disclose specific details about the locations involved or the number of individuals detained, stating that further information would be provided once confirmed.
