Trump Discusses Health Management Amid Public Scrutiny
Jan, 1 2026
Trump expressed regret over undergoing advanced imaging, specifically a cardiovascular and abdominal scan conducted in October, stating that it led to increased scrutiny regarding his health status. He remarked, "In retrospect, it’s too bad I took it because it gave them a little ammunition," suggesting that the decision to undergo the scan implied potential health issues, despite his assertion that "nothing’s wrong."
The public's perception of Trump's health has been a topic of discussion, particularly following observations of him appearing motionless and struggling to stay alert during lengthy meetings. Trump has denied allegations that he has fallen asleep during recent White House events, attributing any appearance of drowsiness to photographers capturing him while blinking. He stated that images of him with closed eyes are often misinterpreted as him being asleep.
During a Cabinet meeting that lasted over 90 minutes, Trump was observed with drooping eyes and at times fully closed, leading to further speculation about his alertness. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended Trump, claiming he was listening attentively throughout the meeting. Trump described his health as "perfect" but acknowledged difficulties with sleep, stating he has never been a heavy sleeper.
Additionally, Trump clarified previous statements regarding a medical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, correcting that he underwent a CT scan rather than an MRI. This scan was conducted to rule out cardiovascular issues and reportedly showed no abnormalities. Trump reiterated his regret over the decision to undergo the scan, suggesting it provided critics with grounds for concern despite the results indicating no health issues.
