Iran Faces Escalating Human Rights Violations Amid Military Tensions

Simultaneously, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian declared that Iran is engaged in a full-scale war with the United States, Israel, and European nations, describing the current conflict as more severe than the Iran-Iraq War, which lasted from 1980 to 1988 and resulted in over one million casualties. Pezeshkian's remarks were made in an interview published on the official website of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He asserted that Western nations do not seek stability in Iran, a sentiment echoed by General Hossein Salami, commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), who warned of dire consequences for the West from a victorious Iranian regime.
These statements come ahead of a significant meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where Iran is expected to be a key topic of discussion. This meeting follows recent military actions, including strikes by Israel and the U.S. on Iranian targets, which have resulted in substantial casualties, including the deaths of senior military officials and nuclear scientists in Iran. Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran's military forces are currently better equipped than during previous conflicts, suggesting that any further aggression from the U.S. or Israel would be met with a strong response. He characterized the ongoing conflict as unprecedented in its complexity compared to past wars, underscoring the humanitarian implications of such military engagements.
