Concerns Emerge Over Mora Namdar's Appointment at State Department
Dec, 27 2025
Her appointment has sparked concerns regarding her views on immigration, particularly towards individuals critical of the Trump administration. During her Senate confirmation hearing, Namdar emphasized the necessity of granting U.S. visas only to those who meet specific qualifications and comply with visa regulations. She stated, "Individuals who violate these terms or disregard U.S. laws will lose the privilege of holding a U.S. visa."
In her testimony, Namdar referenced Secretary of State Marco Rubio, indicating alignment with his perspective that criticism of Israel and pro-Palestinian advocacy could threaten U.S. interests, potentially resulting in visa denials or revocations. She quoted Rubio, asserting that consular officers must ensure that visas are issued only to individuals who do not pose a threat to U.S. interests.
Before her government role, Namdar operated her own law firm and a beauty business named Bam Beauty Bar. Following her promotion, her law firm announced its closure. Additionally, Namdar has been involved in political initiatives, including contributions to Project 2025, which critiques media and academic institutions as centers of leftist influence. In her contributions to this project, she called for reforms to the U.S. Agency for Global Media, which oversees media networks in regions with limited press freedom, citing security risks associated with its operations.
