Job Growth Trends Among Native-Born and Foreign-Born Workers
Dec, 16 2025
According to the report, native-born Americans have gained jobs for several consecutive months, while the number of employed foreign-born workers has decreased. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that since the beginning of the Trump administration, all job growth has occurred in the private sector and among native-born Americans.
Economist E.J. Antoni highlighted that the number of jobs held by native-born Americans has increased by 2.6 million over the past year, contrasting with a slight decline in foreign-born employment. Antoni noted that this year has seen the best November on record for job growth among native-born Americans.
From 2021 to 2024, the labor market was reportedly saturated with foreign-born workers, which some argue contributed to wage stagnation and limited job opportunities for native-born individuals. Research from the Center for Immigration Studies indicated that while over 4.7 million jobs were created for migrants during the Biden administration, only 645,000 jobs were gained by native-born Americans, suggesting a disparity in job growth favoring foreign workers.
