Tapper, alongside CNN chief political analyst David Axelrod and former Trump aide Alyssa Farah Griffin, scrutinized the administration's claim that the bandages were a result of "constantly shaking hands."

Tapper noted that a similar explanation had been provided in July for bruising observed on Trump, indicating a pattern of insufficient transparency regarding his health. At 79 years old, Trump's recent MRI at Walter Reed Medical Center raised further questions, especially as he later claimed ignorance about the specifics of the analysis, despite the results being described as "outstanding."

Axelrod highlighted the recurring issue of lack of clarity from the administration, asserting that the American public deserves to be informed about the president's health, particularly in light of the scrutiny faced by other leaders, such as President Joe Biden. Tapper also pointed out Trump's known aversion to shaking hands, questioning the credibility of the official explanation.

Griffin warned that without a clear medical explanation, speculation and rumors could proliferate, complicating public perception of the president's health. The White House had previously attributed Trump's bruises to a "benign and common condition" known as chronic venous insufficiency, which can also cause swelling in the lower legs.

Both Tapper and Axelrod noted that the visible bruising on Trump's hands is unprecedented among U.S. presidents, underscoring the need for a more thorough response from the administration. Axelrod concluded by emphasizing the importance of transparency and factual communication regarding the president's health.
